The holidays are one of my favorite times of the year and I feel like I have only begun to appreciate them as I’ve gotten older and moved away. I now realize how comforting family can be and I honestly cherish the moments that I get to spend with them.
My family is not really the activity type. We don’t have any weird traditions that we do when we get together for the holidays. We just eat. And we eat a lot.
And that’s great because I LOVE the traditional holiday foods. Listed below are my favorites.
5. Deviled Eggs
Deviled eggs are delicious and I’m not even a big fan of eggs, but I eat a minimum of 3 when the holidays come around.
I’ve had a few different versions of dressing, some homemade and some made at restaurants. But my mom’s version is the only version that I have really ever liked. She’s made it like twice a year since I was born and I can’t recall ever seeing the actual process of her making it. But that’s one thing I love about it…the mystery behind it all…
Ham is a fan favorite at my family’s holiday dinner. But what meat eater doesn’t love ham? It’s moist and flavorful. And in my opinion, the best meat to have for leftovers.
2. Cranberry Sauce
I could eat a can of just cranberry sauce. I love it that much. At our holidays we usually have some homemade cranberry sauce and some of the canned cranberry sauce and I get BOTH of them.
- Broccoli and Rice Casserole
This is another one of my mom’s special dishes and probably the dish that goes the quickest at our house. If we had a holiday of just broccoli and rice casserole I would be fine with that, because it’s that good.
