When the news first broke that Taco Bell would be serving breakfast I was at first filled with excitement and then with concern. I was excited because I love Taco Bell. Its cheap and tasty. Plus I just love Mexican food period. All of my Mexican friends says the Bell isn’t “real” Mexican food but I don’t care because it’s good for me and mostly because it’s cheap. My concern came when I thought about Taco Bell…..for breakfast. I can handle Taco Bell in the afternoon or at night — for obvious reasons. But I’m thinking who wants to start the day off with the shits?..However after examining the menu I determined all the items to be safe for consumption before 12.
The menu has a lot of options, the most interesting menu item is the waffle taco for sure. I’m kind of confused about how I should go about eating it. They also have classic items such as a breakfast burrito and hash browns.
Now I’m not a food expert, I just like to eat. So I won’t be using big fancy words to describe the food in my reviews. I will be grading on 3 criteria’s : Taste, Smell, and Appearance.
The “A.M. Crunchwrap — Sausage”
Below is the description of the “A.M Cruchwrap” tacobell.com
All the classic breakfast tastes like fluffy scrambled eggs, a golden crispy hash brown, real cheddar cheese, a delicious sausage patty and creamy jalapeno sauce wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla and grilled, so it’s good to go.
In the looks department I’ll give the Crunchwrap an A. The pictures I took of my Crunchwrap are almost identical to the pictures of the Crunchwrap that Taco Bell has been advertising. With the exception of mine being burnt but, we’ll get to that later.
In the smell category my Cruncwrap was burnt. And I could smell that it was burnt right when I got the bag in the car. Every time I get something like a Crunchwrap or casadea from TB it’s always burnt so I’m used to it. Luckily the burnt tortilla didn’t greatly effect the taste of the wrap. I’ll give Crunchwrap a B in the smell category.
Now lets get to the final and arguably most important category — Taste.
I would say the taste wasn’t amazing but, it wasn’t terrible either — just average. The jalapeño sauce did have a interesting/nice taste too it and that’s what I guess made the A.M. Crunchwrap a Mexican cuisine.
The jalapeño sauce couldn’t save the crunchwrap from being extremely dry though. It tasted like hotel continental breakfast wrapped in a burnt tortilla. So in the taste category I’ll give the A.M. Crunchwrap a C.
The “Waffle Taco — Sausage”
Below is the description of the Waffle Taco from tacobell.com
A warm waffle wrapped around a delicious sausage patty and fluffy scrambled eggs topped with cheese and served with a side of sweet syrup.
Ok so in the looks category…….it is no surprise the Waffle Taco gets an F.
The Waffle Taco looks an absolute mess. It looks like breakfast food that has been sitting out all night was thrown together and put in a box.
In the smell category I guess it gets a A because it didn’t have a smell. Either the foods wasn’t real or the smell went away 12 hours ago after they cooked it…
As far as taste goes, it didn’t taste that bad.
Surprising — I know! Despite how disgusting it looked and how disgusting I felt eating it — it was honestly pretty good. Does it replace going to iHop and getting all of the same damn food items SEPERATE? — defiantly not. But it was good considering it was a hot mess. B-
So if I was in a rush and wanted some breakfast would I go to McDonalds or Taco Bell? Ummm. I’d starve. Jk …..I’d probably stick with McDonalds.
